April/May Garden & Gun Hits Newsstands

Beautiful southern-gothic cover of a Tipsy Parson frozen julep. Cover photo: Michael Turek

I came home last night to find three shiny new issues of Garden & Gun in my mailbox. In addition to the Southern Invasion of NYC story I wrote, there’s lots of other great material: a look at a modern-day fish camp in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, a story about bird dogs and life lessons by Tom Brokaw, and a roundup of the best places to live and work in the South. I haven’t seen the latest issue out in New York yet, but I’m betting it’ll hit newsstands within the week. If you can’t find one on the racks, check out southernified hotspots like Billy Reid, Georgia’s East Side BBQ, Smoke Joint, and Hog Mountain. I’ve got it on good authority that stacks of the issue will be strategically distributed throughout the city.
