The South Carolina State Fair continues to amaze me–and I’m from there! I’m all for a corn dog and fries, but fried butter?! Fried sauerkraut balls?! Why? What happened to the days when state fairs were the place to showcase your best foods–award-winning pies, for example–not the place to debut Ripley’s-style oddities? It makes me want to start a Slow Food Fair Campaign.
